Muraji Is A Samurai Serving As Lord Toranaga’s Spy In Shōgun
Muraji’s real name is Tonomoto Akinao
Muraji , who presents himself as a regular husbandman living in Anjiro , is actually a samurai name Tonomoto Akinaoserving Lord Yoshii Toranaga . It is unclear when Akinao was tasked with changing his name and becoming a spy , but the graphic symbol has been feeding Toranaga information about Yabushige since at least the beginning of the series . Many see Muraji as just a peasant with nothing to hide , build him the perfect undercover agent . Yabushige is play both sides inShōgun , and Toranaga knows it . While Yabushige is expected to be loyal to the Lord of Kanto , he has been answer to Ishido since the beginning of the show . Yabushige was offered a sit in the Council of Regents , but his alliance with Ishido is prove to be a difficult one . InShōgunepisode 4 , Yabushige was require to render to Osakabut ended up not doing so after Nebara Josen was viciously killed by Yoshii Toranaga ’s Logos . This made Yabushige ’s proceeds to Osaka all but out of the question .
