Screen Rant : We Were the Lucky Onesis such a beautiful , hefty show , so many awe-inspiring adjectives I can use to tell this story . Hadas , I ’ll start with you , and then Michael , what about this labor really touch off both of your interests to want to be a part of it ?
Hadas Yaron : Oh , wow . I just think it ’s very , very unparalleled . Growing up , I interpret a lot about the Holocaust because of where I issue forth from , and because I grow up with 2nd and third generations of Holocaust survivors . So , I ’m really conversant with the story , and I saw pic , I scan books . And something about the way this fib is write is just very , very unique , just because it ’s so intimate . You just follow the people , and they do n’t know what ’s going on .
They do n’t know this huge thing that we all have a go at it today . I think it ’s the first time I take something , both the book and the script of the show , where I was just like , " This is how it felt to be a human being in those times . " They were just the great unwashed trying to figure it out . It was just so unique to really go to that place .
Michael Aloni : I totally agree with that . It ’s such a human write up , and it ’s the family values and the way to endure as humans in those status , horrible consideration . I think Georgia Hunter ’s Holy Scripture is trance , as well as the book of the series , and just draw you right in . And the fact that it ’s part of our inheritance , it ’s a very important one to tell , especially today , and to be reminded of what happened , and what could never happen again .
The Production Design & Costumes Helped The Duo Feel “Very Immersed” In The Period Setting
The period setting of the product and costume design go so far in help audience immerse themselves in the tarradiddle . What was it like for both of you to get into those costume and be on those sets ? Did you feel immersed in that setting ?
Hadas Yaron : I felt very immersed . I felt like there are moments where , because it ’s all so existent , and you ’re there physically , there was something whenever — even if we did like a short scene of walking in the ghetto , and you see a Nazi soldier , at times , there ’s two voice , your brain holds two element . One of it is like , " I ’m an actor , and I ’m in costume and everything is okay . " And the other was kind of like glitching and traveling in time . [ Chuckles ] It was was a very interesting experience for me .
Michael Aloni : I think the stage setting , the costume interior designer and the set designer just did a brilliant line of work . We were shoot in Spain and Romania for about more than six month , and they made everything so existent and possible to really help oneself you , as an actor , just plunge into that moment . And abrasive moment , as well . There ’s soft minute of the family and being all together , which is — I think Tommy Kail put us all together to start out with .
We were brought up before we started film and he produce a kinfolk . And that bond stayed through the whole filming of the series , and I think it shows on the CRT screen that we really overlook each other . Even now , coming back to give these interview just before the series is coming on , we ’re like , " Oh my god , I have n’t ascertain Henry for so long ! I just require to hug him !
