Summary
The luck of John Blackthorne ’s nurseryman inShōgunepisode 5 nearly causes the newly appoint Hatamoto to leave Japan for good . Shōgunepisode 5 " give out to the Fist"sees the return of Lord Yoshii Toranaga from Edo and the surprisal reveal thatLady Mariko ’s samuari husband Toda Buntaro go and escaped Osaka . Blackthorne is confronted and test by Buntaro as they are order to live together under the same roof along with Lady Mariko and the consort Usami Fuji .
As a reward for successfully training Lord Yabushige ’s troop while he was away in Edo , Lord Toranaga give a pheasant to Blackthorne who treats it like a delicacy . In lodge to prepare it the way he knows how , Blackthorne cling the pheasant up in the garden where it rots for days and produces a fowl odor . Due to the fact that thenew Hatamoto inShōgunhardly know any Japanese , he does his best to explain thatno one is set aside to touch the pheasant by inappropriately and jokingly using the word for end .

This include the gardener , who was expose to be the one to dispose of the idle snort against Blackthorne ’s wishes . WhileBlackthorne patently did not mean that concern the pheasant would be meet with a destruction time , his choir accept his give-and-take literally and seriously .
The Hatamoto , who had been mostly singular and humor by the Japanese impost up until that spot , became horrified that his words led to the last of the gardener Uejiro . He did not understand how devout his subordinates would be in carrying out his wishes and demand , no matter how brutal or bizarre they seemed to be .
