Summary

The FX original miniseriesShogunreveals what happened to the Taikō in its second sequence . The Taikō , a title meaning " retired trustee , " was the supreme swayer of Japan until the year 1599 . Under his rule , civil wars ended , and the island nation became one . The Taikō’s Fate Was Revealed In Shogun Episode 2’s Flashback

" The recent Taikō even tried to put a stop to it , but the Church incited the revolt , smuggled guns from that secret base in Macao . " Blackthorne later tellsthe Minowara Toranagathat the base has one C of Catholic Japanese ronin who were employed in the insurrection , and that the Portuguese have add up to Japan " to replace its governing with Catholic rule . "

Blackthorne ’s information is so valuable — and ruinous to the Church , whose trade ship Toranaga denies the leaving of — that an assassin is broadcast to kill him . wittingly , Toranaga switches their resting place and bests her , savingBlackthorne ’s life .
